The fire as the heart of the evening
In the evening, a group drifts toward wherever it's warm. A wood stove or fireplace decides where everyone ends up, and that only works if the space around it is big enough. A stove in a corner with two chairs won't bring a group of twenty together, but a fireplace in the middle of a spacious living room will.
In two destinations, you'll be lighting the fire for the longest season. In Luxembourg province, the plateau sits two hundred meters higher, so you'll light the stove sooner. In the High Fens it's almost always windy, and then the group spends the evening inside by the fire.

What you need
What to look for in a fireplace
The two questions that matter are whether the wood is included and whether the space around the fire fits the group. If it isn't in the description, Ingrid will ask the owner for you.
- Enough seating around the fire, so the whole group fits and not just half
- Clarity on whether the wood is included or charged per basket
- A stove that's big enough for the whole space
- A second heat source, because a fireplace alone won't get you through a cold week
What we take off your hands
A fireplace or wood stove takes center stage in winter, but what comes with it differs from home to home. This selection only includes homes with a fireplace in the living area. If it doesn't say whether the wood is included, we'll check with the owner for you. You'll get all the costs up front in one overview.
How do I know which house suits our group?
Don't just look at the maximum number of guests. The number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas, plus the layout of the house, are at least as important.
A group of twenty friends, for example, may want something very different from a family with kids and grandparents.
Not sure? Let us know what your group looks like. We're happy to help you make a good choice.
What is there to do in the Ardennes?
A lot. And that's exactly why we're so excited about this region.
Think hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, climbing, visiting caves, discovering castles, exploring charming towns, or simply enjoying time together around the house.
The options vary by region and season.
Can I ask you for advice?
We'd love that.
Tell us, for example, how many people are coming, what ages are in the group, when you want to leave, what region you're coming from, which amenities matter most, and roughly what you want to spend.
Then we'll help you think through which accommodations suit your group. You really don't have to compare dozens of homes yourself.
